Gravel mining is totally incompatible with the community of Laporte.

In general the operation would result in air, noise, surface, and light pollution. It would negatively affect water resources. It would create traffic and traffic safety problems and would create safety and health concerns for school children and the community at large. It would inhibit the local economy by deterring visitors and recreational users. It would degrade our community and drastically reduce the standard of living for our citizens. A growing body of research documents the severity of the problem and actions taken worldwide to protect communities, and a growing body of citizen comments document the strength of our opposition.

Petitions have collected a total of 1,610 signatures and comments from 203 concerned citizens as of May 13.

ipetition Text;

We, the undersigned, petition the Planning Commission and Planning Commissioners to deny Loveland Ready Mix’s proposal for a Laporte Pit, Concrete Batch Plant, and Concrete Crushing facility. The proposal to allow industrial use (mining pits, concrete batch plant, and concrete crushing) is not compatible with the surrounding neighborhoods. The proposal does not benefit Laporte, CO. We feel that the proposal seriously threatens the health, welfare, and safety of our community.
