First off, many thanks to Dana Horne, moondog creative, for creating this amazing website!!! Now lets put it to good use! I am very worried that if we don’t stay organized and proactive then our quaint little hamlet is going to turn into a post hoc mining town. The very staunch individualism that defines many of the us Laporte residents and drew us here in the first place, may work against us, if we don’t band together over the ruinous, serious possibility of a gravel pit! It seems ludicrous that this could even be a possibility, it is so blatantly incompatible with our our wonderful, dog eared community. I would encourage all of us to start to relentlessly contacting the county commissioners and in no uncertain terms, let them know we vehemently oppose this gravel pit! I think the why may be less important then the many and volume of our opposition.

Thanks to everyone who continues to send in letters. Once the application gets submitted – maybe in May or June), then the letters can speak to the actual application. Some of you may have received recently a letter from Telesto requesting well information. Before submitting the application, they need to include everyone’s Well information in the application and therefore they will contacting those who said that they could measure their well depth in the coming weeks.

Another thought… isolationism is what makes Laporte. We can remain strong together in our respected solitude. In the March meeting neighborhood meeting many thought, including the meeting facilitator, that it was amazing the variety of people and how everyone got along with each other and showed respect to let others have additional time for their input. Why? It was obvious that everyone shared a common belief: The pit was not wanted in Laporte.

Terry, first of all..let me thank you for recognizing Dana Horne for setting up this website. It is an important tool for residents of LaPorte and other communities to get together and voice their concerns. While I don’t currently live in LaPorte, it has been my plan to purchase land and build my dream home in LaPorte, to breathe in that wonderful mountain air. This dream is about to be shattered unless more people get involved and say NO..NOT IN MY BACK YARD! Please, those in control of passing this ordinance, please lose sleep over the decision, and say NO. We don’t need to ruin a wonderful community. Vote NO! NO! NO!
